Pierre Ferraud Beaujolais: Gamay & Granite
Pierre Ferraud has been making Beaujolais since 1882. Whilst they own some vineyards, they work mostly with growers with whom they have long-existing grape contracts, so a kind of hybrid grower/merchant. But, none of that really matters as what ends up in the glass is proper, authentic Beaujolais Villages and Cru Beaujolais that offer superb value for money. Their Crus all express their individual styles, and if I had a favourite it would be the Julienas, but you can buy with confidence across all four of the styles that I have chosen from their large range.
