Politically speaking Emilia Romagna is one region, but viticulturally these are two very separate zones. Emilia is more akin to a northern Italian region with its sparkling and quite often delicious, Lambrusco, whilst Romagna is much more a Central Italian region with many of its vineyards planted to Sangiovese, being just the other of the Apennines from Tuscany.
